Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
At Shirley School, this is taught through whole school themes across the school year.
These themes include 'Relationships', 'Keeping Safe', 'Changes', 'Healthy Lifestyles', 'Saying No To Bullying' and 'Citizenship'. Each half term the children learn about one of these topics and are encouraged to put into practice the skills that they learn, in school, the playground and beyond.
PSHE learning is supported by weekly assemblies for more age specific groups, focusing on the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL). The focus of these assemblies is more on the everyday choices and decisions that the children face, such as what to do if they fall out with a friend.
