Eco Warriors

Pupil Eco Team
Being an eco-monitor at Shirley School is a big responsibilty- you need to be quick at reminding people to switch off lights and turn off the smart board, good at remembering to water the plants, and happy to join in with lots of projects, like painting swift boxes.

See our blog that has been written about our swift boxes at the school.

Our Eco Team is made up of a representative from each class, from Year 1 to Year 6. These children are:

Last year we:
  • Put together an eco-code for classes to follow
  • Designed and judged a poster competiton to remind people to save water when filling water bottles
  • Painted swift boxes which are now fixed above our school dinner hall.
We have also talked about how we can develop the nature area, and thought about lots of ways in which we can make our school green.
We're very excited to see what we can do this year!
Adult Eco Team
Shirley also has an adult eco team who meet up at school every half term to talk about events like our environment days and to think about more exciting ways to get everyone involved in making our school an eco school. Shirley school is proud to have been awarded the Silver Eco Award and we are now Aiming for Green!
